Nov 11
Uncategorized

Vestax Spin DJ System for MacVestax has introduced the Spin, a DJ music mixer for the Mac. It measures in at 14 inches x 9.5 inches x 1.5 inches and weighs just 3.2 lbs, so you won’t throw your back out lugging it from gig to gig. It’s a combination of a DJ control surface, an audio interface and DJ software.

The device connects to your MacBook or MacBook Pro via the USB port and lets you select songs from your iTunes library. The Spin will be available in Japan this December for 30,000 Yen or about $330.

Woot.com A new website coming!

Nov 11
Uncategorized

wootlogo

Woot.com, is a very popular, ‘deal a day’ website that is known for having great prices for one item per day.  They stay on sale from midnight (West Coast Time) until midnight the next day or until they run out of stock.  Products tend to lean toward tech such as GPS, computers, etc but a variety is out there.

Since starting they’ve added

  • kids.woot.com for kids oriented stuff
  • sellout.woot.com which is basically a second daily deal but done in conjunction with Yahoo!.
  • wine.woot.com … Self explanatory
  • shirt.woot.com for daily cool shirts

There are numerous copycat websites, although none seem to have the quality of the deal they have and they don’t have the sense of humor woot does in their product listings.

motorola-i465I’m not really certain why Motorola’s messaging phone the i465 is called the Clutch. Perhaps it is because the back of it is completely covered in textured rubber, just like the clutch of a stick-shift car.

Of course, nothing should ever be judged by its name, and not be its looks, either. You may notice a vague resemblance between the i465 and a product whose first name is “Black” and last name is “Berry”. The i465 is slightly thinner than the popular Research In Motion (RIM) device, and the proportioned skinnier keyboard takes some getting used to. However, I was surprised at how easy it was to text. Normally I use a QWERTY that has to be turned on its side to work.

One of the problems that I saw with the i465 is that it really is an ordinary phone with all the usual features like the camera (both video and stills), Bluetooth, GPS, voice dialing, and Push-To-Talk. Yet I think that in its heart, the Clutch really wants to shift into high gear and be a full-on smartphone. Fortunately, it is possible to access the web and e-mail if you buy the right plan.

Those plans would be from either Sprint or Boost Mobile. The i465 phone from Motorola costs about $99 with either of those backers.

Nice Cup In Bra doubles as a golf putting matGolfers would like nothing better than to combine their sport with boobs, somehow. But that’s a tall order for a sport like golf. Thankfully for golfers lingerie maker Triumph International Japan has unveiled a new concept bra designed to appeal to female golfing enthusiasts. And men who want to get them topless.

It’s called the “Nice Cup In Bra,” and consists of a grass-green top that, when removed, unfolds into a 1.5-meter-long putting mat. The user can then sink a putt into one of the cups, when a built-in speaker will exclaim “Nice shot.”

Not the most stylish thing ever, but we certainly encourage it.

gates-house-3Microsoft (and particularly Bill Gates) is well known for it’s philanthropic work, including a charity auction conducted each fall. One of the most popular items donated is a tour of the Bill’s famous Lake Washington home. Last year, the highest bid was $8,600. This year, the bidding skyrocketed up to $35,000!

These amazing numbers were mentioned to the Seattle blog Techflash during a presentation from Microsoft’s CIO Tony Scott. I have to say, while the house is amazing, $35k seems a bit steep for a tour, but remember this is for charity. Also part of the same auction, the “world’s best bologna sandwich” topped out at $500 this year. No word if you would be allowed to eat the sandwich while touring the house though.

WirelessSpyCamPen_11_640xThis would not be the first time we reported on a Spy Camera Pen, and it probably won’t be the last, either. Normally, spy stuff made for the consumer looks pretty shabby compared to the technology in James Bond or Mission Impossible movies, but this one from our old friends at Brando looks quite decent.

The SPY Wireless Camera Pen + PMP comes in two parts, a transmitter and a receiver. The Transmitter is the pen itself, that transmits with 2.4 GHz. It has a rechargeable battery powered by USB and shoots 640 x 480 video with a lens that no one would ever see unless they looked really close. The lens is positioned perfectly for secret shooting in one’s breast pocket.

The receiver is essentially a PMP with a 3.5 inch screen. Not only can it pick up what the camera is seeing, but it is good for playing all kinds of formats, such as MP3, WMA, MP4, FLV, not to mention JPEGs and e-books. It has 2GB worth of memory built in to it, and expandable with the TF/Micro SD Card slot. It also has a TV out so you can see what you want on a bigger screen.

Not bad for a price of $159. You can get it right now if you head over to the Brando Site.

Spy Camera in a tissue box

Nov 11
Uncategorized

Spy Camera in a tissue boxDamn, paranoids and perverts sure have a ton of ways to spy on you these days, but putting a spy camera in a tissue box somehow seems creepier than most of the spy gadgets we feature here. Maybe because it looks extra innocent.

Looks are deceiving. Inside there is a camera that takes color footage during the day and black and white footage at night at a resolution of 720×480 at 30fps. It uses SD cards to store your footage, and can be programmed to activate automatically at a certain time.

So who is watching you? And from what object?

Tauntaun sleeping bag now available for preorderIt all started as an April Fools Joke last year from ThinkGeek and that’s all it took to make the Tauntaun sleeping bag a hit. Fans demanded that it be made for real. The company has now made it so and you can finally preorder your very own for $100.

It’s a sleeping bag that looks just like a Tauntaun, with a saddle, printed intestines, and even a plush lightsaber zipper pull. Yes, but does it smell worse on the inside? Kinda depends on how often you use it I guess.

Celebrate Christmas on Christmas Corner

scentbug1-300x145

We’ve all seen those ridiculous scent filled contraptions that promise to fill your home with your favorite smell.  They all seem to have that same look, so everyone will know exactly what they are as soon as they see them.  Well these are still filled with your favorite smell, but they don’t look quite as obvious as the rest that you usually find at the grocery store.  This looks more hi-tech and actually comes in several different colors.

The device is really just a small enclosed fan.  In order to work it, you just put in your favorite fragrance oil from ScentBug by putting about 20 drops of the oil onto the oil pad refills.  The oil pads will cost you $3.50 for a pack of eight and the oils around $8 a bottle.  Then turn on the fan and it’ll fill the room with that scent.  By allowing you to put on the drops yourself, that also means you can mix up your own personal scent.  The fans come in red, pink, green, brown and white.  You can purchase yourself one for $12.50.

blockyBlockbuster definitely felt the pain when Netflix caught on, and it has been years since I have been to a Blockbuster video outlet. (Probably because most of them have closed down.) I generally use that whole RedBox thing, assuming I even want to rent a movie these days.

Yes, it seems that Blockbuster was a little slow to realize that the days of traditional movie rentals is ending, but they have a new plan that could easily put them on top, as far as video rentals are concerned.

Blockbuster intends to start a new program that would involve the kiosks that you see here. All you would need to do is insert your own SD card, and then pick what movie you want to watch.

The movie is then loaded onto that card, and you can take it with you and watch it on whatever media that you prefer. These movies are DRMed and will expire after a certain date, so you don’t have to worry about returning the movie at all.

Surely this is the future of video rental, but isn’t there technology to stream the latest videos into our homes now? I suppose this would be a low-cost alternative, but not everyone has SD card readers on their televisions. My laptop doesn’t even have a card reader, and it’s only a few years old. It makes you wonder why Blockbuster didn’t choose to use USB Flash drives as the medium for this new technology.

There are hundreds of iPhone cases available in the marketplace right now.  Many fall into the same category.  Mid-price range, plastic or silicone materials, decent protection and no custom options.  Not the case with the Leather Flip Case from Shinnorie.

The Shinnorie case falls into a class almost all by itself.  Hand crafted from ultra high quality leather the flip case can be custom built to your specifications.  It wraps your iPhone in a soft protective cocoon yet still allowing full access to your device when you need it.

You might think all this custom work and expensive materials come with a super high price tag.  You’d be wrong.  The Shinnorie Leather Flip Case brings custom design to the consumer for a very affordable price.
