If you had a choice of watching either an HD movie or a 3D movie, which would you choose? In 2010, you may not have to make this choice thanks to DirecTV and assuming you have the right components in your home entertainment system.
DirecTV, a US satellite TV provider plans to offer the new TV service in March 2010 after its satellite is successfully launched and achieves geosynchronous orbit. In order to enjoy 3D programming, consumers will need a 3D HDTV and with CES 2010 (Consumer Electronic Show 2010) around the corner, there’s a good chance we’ll see some new flat panels that support 3D television. At CES 2009, there were already several brand names such as Panasonic, Samsung and LG that were touting their digital gear.
2010 will be an interesting year for 3D programming and if all goes according to plan, consumers may be treated to a variety of movies, sports and assorted other programming all in 3D and HD. How nice would it be to watch a new movie such as Avatar at home using this new technology.
